Bowen Therapy is very gentle; it does not use forceful manipulation.

Bowen therapy is gentle on purpose.

It’s a wrap

Every muscle in our bodies is surrounded (wrapped) by fascia, a white, translucent and strong tissue. It allows flexibility and communication between all the various parts of our body. The fascia is also implicated many times in ‘holding’ positions that are not ideal, and Bowen therapy can release stressed or locked muscles by adjusting the fascia, bringing relief from pain.

Taking back control

Bowen therapists understand the power of fascia to control and direct muscles, and the moves in Bowen therapy specifically address the fascia of each muscle involved in client conditions. Deep manipulation would bypass the fascia, and so the moves are very gentle, and very effective, targeting the fascia which lies on the surface of each muscle.

Time heals

Bowen therapists also allow time during each treatment for the client’s body to assimilate and process each move (or series of moves), so that the sensory information just given can be absorbed and utilized by the body.

Gentle, peaceful, effective.
